PERSONALITY:
Jonothon is, in general, not a happy person. In fact, one might go so far as to call him a consummate pessimist. He is also a young man of few words and less tact. One might call him the embodiment of 'does not play well with others'. He snarks and growls and basically tries to keep the world at arm's length because if he can manage that, then nobody else can get hurt.
Self-esteem is not something that Jono has in spades. He is convinced that he is a monster and not fit to be among normal people. Pity him not, though. Such things will only earn snark and a hardening of his shell.
This is not to say there isn't a brighter personality beneath it all. Brighter may, of course, be by comparison. He loves music and his guitar. What he cannot say he words, even in telepathy, he will say with music instead. And as it is his one talent (according to himself, of course), he can and will show off.
He is also a stubborn ass, which works both for and against him. Jonothon's mule-headed nature means that it is incredibly difficult to get him to change his thinking.
At the end of the day, though, the most difficult thing about Jono is that he doesn't consider himself to be alive. He doesn't eat or breathe and he has no heartbeat (or heart, for that matter). He is a walking corpse whose mutant powers won't allow him to die.
The real challenge lies in getting him to live again.

HISTORY:
Jonothon Evan Starsmore was born to upper-middle class parents in London's East End. His childhood, all told, was normal. The only thing his parents could have complained about was their son's fascination with music over more scholarly pursuits. When he wanted to learn to play the guitar, they allowed him, provided his grades didn't suffer. Though he didn't care much for school, Jonothon agreed.

By the time he turned sixteen, Jonothon had a band and was still making good marks in school, if not the best. He had decided that he wanted to be a rock star, and would likely go far with his abilities. He also had a girlfriend, Gayle Edgerton, and the future was looking pretty damned good.

All that changed one night in early August, though. The local pub had hired the band to do a few sets, not really giving a rat's arse about the underage lead guitarist. Between sets, Jono took Gayle into the backroom and they began to make out. All too quickly, though, Jono had to pull back, sweating profusely and feverish. Gayle had just talked him into getting some fresh air when Jonothon's mutant powers manifested. Spectacularly.

There would be speculation in the papers the next day as to what happened, but the one thing that was agreed on was that there was only one serious injury and one death. Gayle was taken to the hospital, paralyzed from the waist down. Jonothon ended up in the same hospital, sent to the morgue, chest and face ravaged by the explosive nature of his manifestation.

It took two days for his powers to fully metabolize. In that time, his parents viewed the body and identified their son. However, they also indicated that they wanted nothing to do with the body. Leaving the burial to the city of London, the body was kept in the morgue until someone could be sent to retrieve it.

When Jono awoke, he woke screaming and blazing. By chance or good fortune, Elisabeth Braddock was in the hospital for a check-up when it happened. She talked him down and took him with her. It is because of her that he has come to Xavier's, to learn control and how to deal with a mutation that he will never truly be able to hide.

[Additional Information]
Jonothon is a skilled guitarist. If he's not studying or watching television, he is likely playing his guitar.
As a side effect of his powers, Jonothon does not need to eat or drink. He doesn't spend any time in the kitchen or dining area if he can avoid it. He's far more likely to be found in the library or on the grounds.
An additional side effect of his powers is that turning them off, through use of telepathy, collar or negation causes him to 'die'. How long he can survive having his powers off is unknown, but it is likely that it would kill him sooner or later.
Other than that, Jonothon is very hard to kill. He cannot be suffocated or starved. Shooting or stabbing him in the likely locations does no good. He could probably be killed by taking his head off, but would you really want to risk the possible explosion?
Lastly, Jono wears black. A lot. He always keeps the hole in his chest covered by bandages (black) and tends towards jeans (black), t-shirts (black, sometimes with band images) and boots (again, black).

DISCLAIMER: Jono Starsmore/Chamber and the X-Men belong to Marvel Comics. This version of Jono is part of the [info]westchester_x2 game. Yes, his PB is Orlando Bloom. No, you may not fangirl him. No, really. No fangirling. It makes the goth boy cross and he really doesn't need any more angst.
